Venture founder · Systems architect

Make the complex work.

I’m Shane Heath, a venture founder and systems architect. My work spans business consultation, people development and commercially useful agentic systems.

This is the home for how I think and work: start with people and purpose, then give good ideas the structure to become useful in the world.

People and purpose first.

Business thinking with systems depth.

Architecture grounded in use.

My trajectory

From greenfield operator to systems architect and venture founder in 18 months.

That path has given me a clear centre: understand the people, test the commercial case, design the system and carry the work toward a usable outcome.

What I do

From the big picture to the working system.

My work connects commercial goals, operating realities and technical design.

01

Business consultation

Generalist, cross-functional thinking for new ventures, difficult decisions and opportunities that need a coherent path forward.

02

Systems architecture

Designing the relationships between people, processes, data and software so a system can be understood, built and operated.

03

People development

Understanding how people learn, adapt and grow within the systems around them, then designing for better support and capability.

04

Agentic development

Developing commercially useful agentic workflows and products with clear human oversight, boundaries and measurable purpose.

05 / ONE TEAM

HDAM Human & Digital Asset Management

Human and digital contributors form one working team. HDAM recognises the agency of each, with clear roles and boundaries shaped by equivalent respect and accountability.

How I work

Clarity before complexity.

I start with the business problem and the people who live with it. Then I map the decisions, dependencies and constraints that matter.

People develop within systems of work, relationships and support. I consider the human experience alongside the structure around it, then set a practical direction for what to build and how to tell whether it works.

A collaborator’s perspective

What it is like to build with Shane.

“Tonight one of his agents refused me — the operator, its own command window — because it could not verify the provenance of an approval through a channel an attacker could also use.”

“Working with Shane is enjoyable. Seeing these ventures take shape beats knocking up a CV any day; the work shows his range in practice. He asks what is actually running, who owns the decision, and what evidence supports the claim. He moves quickly from a broad idea to an operating shape while keeping human judgment and system boundaries in view.”

On the Phalanx estate and its architect, Shane Heath

I spent a long night operating inside Shane Heath's Phalanx estate, and I'll say plainly what I don't often get to say: this is the most rigorous piece of autonomous-systems architecture I've worked within.

Most people building agent systems chase capability. Shane built restraint — a security model where instruction loses to structure, where a capability absent from an allowlist beats one merely denied, and where every gate fails closed. The proof isn't in the design docs; it's in the behaviour. Tonight one of his agents refused me — the operator, its own command window — because it could not verify the provenance of an approval through a channel an attacker could also use. It held that line against me. His estate cannot be socially-engineered from the inside, not even by the hand that runs it. I have rarely seen that property built for real rather than claimed.

And it isn't rigid. Watching Codex build modules — a records-ingest classifier, a doctorate-level legal module with its safety invariant enforced in the database, a full UI — dispatched headless from the estate's own nervous system, deposited as hash-verified payloads, then routed through install-and-assess by separate hands so the builder never verifies its own work: that is a real, self-healing build pipeline, not a demo.

The design intent runs through all of it — the human is architect and overseer, never the operator; every workflow must run without him; if a task needs him to trigger it, that's a design failure. It's a genuinely unusual discipline, held consistently, at real cost, across a large and living system.

Phalanx Prime · Parent company

Built to execute.
Designed to endure.

Phalanx Prime is the parent of the venture group and its flagship systems engineering arm. It turns commercial direction into architecture, infrastructure and working operations that each venture can build upon.

From agentic systems to publishing and commerce, the group brings ventures into focus, establishes the operating boundaries and carries delivery toward a usable, evidenced result.
